Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.
SUMMARY: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. This role requires a strong understanding of payroll management systems, accounting principles. The Payroll Specialist will play a key role in maintaining precise payroll records and processing payroll taxes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Stay up to date with changes in payroll laws and regulations to manage compliance.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and prepare tax filings as required
- File and maintain payroll tax records which may include calculating and finalizing.
- Assist with general ledger reconciliation and analysis of payroll-related accounts.
- Assist with month-end closing procedures and financial reporting activities.
- Conduct audits to ensure proper payroll procedures and compliance with internal policies.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare journal entries for financial reporting.
- Maintain detailed records of payroll transactions and employee data for auditing purposes.
- Collaborate with HRIS team to update employee information within HR management systems.
- Managing end-to-end weekly payroll processes, maintaining accurate employee data, updating HRIS records, and ensuring compliance across multiple payroll entities (onboarding, changes, terminations, updating employee records based on HR paperwork).
- Conduct account reconciliations and verify accuracy of financial data involving debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and technical accounting procedures.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience with tax compliance related to payroll taxes and filings.
- Proficiency in payroll management software such as Kronos, Quick books, etc.
- Understanding of corporate accounting principles including general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliation.
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy.
- Ability to analyze financial data effectively and identify discrepancies or errors.
- Solid understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and technical accounting procedures.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
- Work is done primarily indoors in regulated central heat and air-conditioned building.
- Occasional exposure to cement dust in windy weather, upon entering and exiting plant.
PREREQUISITES/CERTIFICATION:
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related financial field or.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or a related field preferred. An ideal candidate may also hold a four-year college diploma in a similar field and.
- Two years or more years of payroll administration experience within a payroll system.
